Fifth Annual Competition Results
The fifth annual competition took place on October 17, 2009. Twenty-four teams (67 students) participated. The top teams were from California and Antioch hIgh schools. Cal took the top honors. Student argued the U.S. Supreme Court case, Ricci v. DeStefano (white firefighters alleging discrimiation).

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Teams
of two to five students come to the Contra Costa County Courthouse
(A.F. Bray Courts, 1010 Ward Street) in Martinez, CA on a Saturday in October to present their
oral arguments before three-judge courts (made up of attorneys
and
judges). The format will be similar to CRF's Mock Trial pretrial
motion. Each team will have two chances to present—once
per side. Then we'll have the semifinal and championship rounds,
lunch and awards. Entry fee is $25 per participant (includes
snacks, pizza and a T-Shirt). Schools may have more than one
team. The
competition runs from 8:30 AM to about 3:30 PM.

Want
to learn more about the competition and ask the authors questions?
We will have a training session on a Saturday about three weks before the comptition at 10 a.m. (location and exact date TBD).
We will go over the case and rules and answer any questions you may have. There is no cost. Students, coaches, parents and anyone interested in Moot Court is welcome.
Fourth Annual Competition Results
The fourth annual competition took place on Saturday, October 11, 2010. The winner was the team of Zhuchen Xu and Cecillia Xie from California High School in San Ramon. In second place was Adithi Rajapuram and Jenny Reich from Acalanes in Lafayette. Three teams tied for third place Aaron Boltz, Kate Parker Morgansen and Shannon Schumacher from Acalanes; Anthony Andrade, Aubria Bauder and Amber Kern from Antioch and Tyler Berbert and Tyler Kresch from College Park in Pleasant Hill. Over 40 students and 20 attorneys and judges participated. Students argued both sides of the California Supreme Court's recent decision In re Marriage Case which legalized same-sex marriages.
